It all began with a distant memory of a Taiwanese street snack known as “Ji dan gao” (雞蛋糕/鸡蛋糕), the egg cake.
This traditional treat had a simple recipe – eggs, flour, oil, sugar, and milk. It earned its name because it was cooked in molds shaped like eggs.
I love this treat, and I want to share it with more people. As I thought about how to explain it easily, it hit me: it’s like a mix of a pancake and a waffle. Soft on the inside, crispy on the outside. With this revelation in mind, I decided to merge the two words that perfectly captured the creation – “pancake” and “waffle.” And just like that, “PAWAFFLE” was born.
Oh, and by the way, I had a beloved dog, and I wanted to put a bit of his spirit into this treat. That’s why each PAWAFFLE is lovingly shaped like a paw, a symbol of warmth, comfort, and affection. So, with a nod to tradition and a dash of creativity, I proudly named the delightful creation “PAWAFFLE” – a treat that marries the best of both worlds, just like the love and care that goes into every bite.
